The engine doesn't need tweeking for more power - there is plenty there and you'ld lose a bit of reliability - that's the usual compromise. As for the back brake, yes thanks, it's sorted; what was happening was that after the brake was used (and it worked properly) it would not release - there was still pressure in the caliper.
