WebI've seen this across a few makes of turbos, and it's always from the wastegate port. For the most part there's just too much thermal stress at that location, so the crack forms and propagates. Usually the remedy is to increase material thickness in the turbine housing and massage the features a little, and that will stop the cracks from forming. WebFeb 11, 2012 · Just wanted to share my experience with my vf52 internal wastegate. It seems it is pretty weak and doesnt seem to work properly in colder weather. I have it tuned for 19.5 psi but when its colder out say below 35* it wont hit past 17. The densly charged cold air actually blows the wastegate rite open but when its warmer out it operates just fine.
